Among the uncertainty of the Covid-19 outbreak was whether clubs would lose players out of contract should the season be extended.

Eight members of Kenny Jackett's squad’s deals are due to conclude, including Christian Burgess, Brett Pitman, Lee Brown and Oli Hawkins.

With the transfer window to reportedly be moved, however, it'd mean players’ terms would be extended until the culmination of the campaign.

Meanwhile, there were fears Pompey could lose loanees Ross McCrorie (Rangers), Cameron McGeehan (Barnsley), Sean Raggett (Norwich) and Steve Seddon (Birmingham).

Their loan periods last until May 31 to ensure they’d have been available for the play-offs, although a similar outcome will try to be resolved.

Luke McGee and Adam May – on loan at Bradford and Boreham Wood – would also likely stay to complete their teams’ respective League Two and National League play-off pushes.

With a 14-week timescale, it is likely to impact on stadium capacity for the current season – should it eventually resume.

The Blues are installing a new roof and introducing cladding, along with essential attention to the stand’s beams and other associated works.

The club have opted to carry out improvements now, utilising the break in the fixture schedule during the coronavirus pandemic.

A resumption may initially consist of matches behind closed doors if the campaign is completed.
