Portsmouth's 'strongest XI' and best hope of securing maiden Championship win - according to data experts

All eyes will be on Pompey boss John Mousinho’s team sheet when the Blues report back for action on Saturday at QPR.

With the Fratton Park outfit still searching for their maiden win of the season, there’ll be hope that the Loftus Road visitors will be able to field their strongest side - or something that resembles it - for the first time this term.

That’s a luxury that has so far avoided Pompey this campaign and has no doubt contributed to the Blues’ tally of five points from their first nine games of the Championship season.

Whether the likes of Conor Shaughnessy, Callum Lang or Kusini Yengi are fit to return for this weekend’s trip to west London after injury remains to be seen. It will also be intriguing to see how Pompey line up for their game with the Hoops, after Mousinho ditched his favoured 4-2-3-1 system in favour of a 3-5-2 formation last time out against Oxford.

No doubt the Blues boss will continue to agonise over his starting XI right up until kick off as he tries to find the winning formula to kick-start his side’s season and give the fans renewed hope after some tough results in recent weeks.

But if he requires any help, there’s plenty at hand - especially from the EFL’s player ratings partner at Whoscored.com. Just like The News, they’ve been scoring the Blues throughout the season and have provided their thoughts on what Pompey’s best XI looks like based on performances to date this term.

Each player must have started more than one game in their selected position. But here’s what Whoscored.com believes is the Blues best line-up to beat QPR on Saturday, if everyone was available for selection.

See if you agree and spot the one obvious omission that should come as a surprise!
