Pompey’s visit to Ipswich on Saturday was the BBC’s ‘most watched FA Cup stream’ last weekend.

That’s according to BBC Solent’s Andrew Moon, who has revealed 264,565 people tuned in to see the Blues claim a 3-2 extra-time win against the Tractor Boys.

In total, the broadcaster showed 12 first-round ties over Saturday and Sunday via their iPlayer service and website and app.

That included the Hawks’ 1-0 victory over Cray Valley Paper Mills at Westleigh Park, Bradford’s 7-0 thumping of non-league Tonbridge Angels and Wigan’s shock 3-2 defeat at the hands of National League North Chorley.

With fans remaining locked out of grounds because of coronavirus, such a service was the only way for supporters to see their teams in action in the cup.

It also handed Pompey an additional £32,500 to boost their coffers.

Yet none of the viewing figures recorded by the BBC came close to the audience that tuned in to see Sean Raggett score a controversial late winner in the Blues’ win at Portman Road.

The Bantams’ win at Longmead Stadium – the corporation’s second most popular game at the weekend – attracted 151,422 viewers.

Meanwhile, the Latics’ home defeat was the only other first-round tie to attract an audience over 100,000.

A total of 32,740 people streamed the Hawks’ victory as they progressed to the second round for only the second time in their history.

Revealing the figures via Twitter, Moon said: ‘Ipswich v #Pompey was the BBC's most watched #FACup stream over the weekend. 264,565 people saw it.’
