Portsmouth have a big chance to earn some valuable points this weekend as they prepare to face QPR in a bottom-of-the-table scrap. The Championship new boys have had a mixed bag of emotions towards their results so far this season but as the only team without their first win, the pressure is mounting.
Pompey have the chance to leapfrog QPR if they can come away with their first match three points. They’ve already upset the likes of Sheffield United and Leeds by holding them to draws this season but a win will really boost morale as they look to fight their way out of the relegation zone.
Former EFL star Adrian Clarke has given his verdict on how Saturday’s clash will go and he’s tipped John Mousinho’s side to have the edge. Speaking on the What the EFL podcast, Clarke predicted a slim 2-1 win for Portsmouth.
“I am going to go with Pompey, not really impressed with QPR of late. Pompey have been stewing for a while, they need a win. I just think this is one ground they can go to in the Championship and may get something. So 2-1 Pompey for me.”

At the other end of the table, Leeds United continue their push for promotion but they are stacked up against some hefty competition. After falling agonisingly short of the prize last season, the Whites are hoping to make amends this time round.
After a busy summer window, Leeds are already being linked with further transfer business. According to LeedsLive, midfielder Josuha Guilavogui has emerged as a ‘possible target’ for Daniel Farke and co. The 34-year-old is available to sign as a free agent after his contract with Mainz expired over the summer.
Guilavogui is naturally a defensive midfielder but can also operate at centre-back. He has represented clubs in both Germany and France’s top divisions. He is reportedly ‘one of several players’ Farke has ‘taken an interest’ in since exploring the free agent market.
