But can the same be said of the 12 signings who arrived this summer, with Danny Cowley carrying out a big overhaul of his squad options?
We’ve assessed the contribution of the dozen new faces, breaking down how they’ve performed and then giving a grade for their efforts so far.
9. Michael Morrison - B
Came in on the eve of the season and looked rusty in the warm-up at Barnet, but performed impressively when the important stuff got under way. Not many would have anticipated Morrison being a league ever-present at this stage, with a mistake against Peterborough his only blip so far. Photo: Jason Brown
10. Josh Griffiths - B
Big boots to fill after succeeding Gavin Bazunu, but the West Brom loanee has stepped up impressively. Five clean sheets in 11 outings is a strong return, with some important stops along the way. Goals conceded at Newport County the only ones where Griffiths could be criticised, with his distribution fluctuating a little at times. Photo: Jason Brown
11. Josh Koroma - B-
Not a big body of work yet to judge the winger on since his deadline day arrival from Huddersfield. Koroma has shown promise in his two outings off the bench and lit up the clash with Plymouth with an excellent maiden goal from the edge of the box. Looks like there's more to come. 12. Josh Oluwayemi - C
Young keeper’s had just one outing so far, since joining from Spurs and was beaten twice from the penalty spot and couldn’t stop any of the six spot-kicks taken against him in the Papa John’s Trophy meeting with Crawley. Was always coming in as back-up to Josh Griffiths, so would be harsh to be too judgmental. Photo: Jason Brown
