Last weekend marked the 12th anniversary of Pompey’s 4-1 FA Cup battering of Southampton on their own patch.

In one of the most memorable South coast derbies in history, Avram Grant’s men mauled their fierce rivals on their own patch with a four-goal second-half battering.
But what became of the heroes who put Pompey’s financial pain to book their place in the quartezxr-finals, as they went on to reach the final of the famous, old competition?
We’ve traced their footsteps since they left Fratton Park, with some very different paths being travelled.

13. Richard Hughes
The Scot spent nine years at Fratton Park and was a part of the Championship and FA Cup success, as well as the European journey. He played 164 ties for the Blues before later joining Bournemouth, where he retired in 2014. Hughes currently runs the Mele e Pere restaurant in Soho, London alongside his brother, has worked as a pundit on BT Sport and is technical director at Bournemouth. Photo: Steve Reid
Another Fratton favourite, the striker scored in the 2-0 victory, which was one of 11 goals during his loan. He appeared 45 times in Blue but after his loan ended he joined West Ham along with manager Avram Grant. The 43-year-old spent 3-years at Upton Park before joining Doncaster in 2012. Scoring off the bench was the undoubted highlight of a shot 10-game loan spell from Arsenal. Later played in Germany, Portugal and Holland. In 2020 Owusu-Abeyie retired to become a rapper. The cousin of UK artist Sway, the winger returned to the game with amateur outfit SV Robinhood in 2020 , but has been releasing material including mixtapes in the Rich2gether label.
