Right decision made by Lee Brown as length of Portsmouth injury absence confirmed

Kenny Jackett praised Lee Brown for ‘making’ the right decision’ to pull out of Pompey's win at Lincoln just before the game kicked-off.

The left-back could be sidelined for up to three weeks after tweaking his hamstring in the warm-up at Sincil Bank on Tuesday night.

Brown was replaced by on-loan Bristol City defender Cam Pring in the starting line-up, with the Blues picking up an impressive 3-1 victory.

Jackett saluted Brown’s experience for not risking starting against the Imps and subsequently forcing Pompey to make an early substitution.

The Blues boss said: ‘Lee's out for 2-3 weeks. He felt it in the warm-up and it's not something that you can shake off. He made the right decision in the end.

‘It wasn't worth starting then wasting the substitution early in the game.

‘For him, he's caught it before it becomes too bad and I estimate it will be 2-3 weeks before he’ll be available for selection again.

‘The back four have done pretty well so far this season but Pring did very well at Lincoln and has staked his claim to hold his shirt. That's all you can do when you get your chance.’

Brown joins fellow defender Jack Whatmough (hamstring) on the treatment table.

Meanwhile, Michael Jacobs also remains out with a knee problem.
