The Championship side were humbled 4-2 at Fratton Park this afternoon after one of the Blues’ finest displays of the season.

Ben Close, John Marquis, Ronan Curtis and Christian Burgess all scored for Kenny Jackett’s impressive side in a deserved triumph.

For Curtis, it was a 12th goal of a Pompey campaign which is building up momentum after a slow start.

And he sung the praises of his jubilant team-mates.

He said:‘ It was amazing, the fans cheered us on the whole way and that’s what we want to hear at Fratton Park.

‘You are playing against a team in the Championship, we want to show we can get there and match them – we did that today.

‘We were compact, nice and tight, when we needed to make a challenge we did, we didn’t pussyfoot about and got rid of it when we needed to.

‘I have to say, we were lucky not to concede an equaliser when they had a great chance to score, then I got one two minutes later.

‘We deserved the win in the end because we battered them all over the pitch.

‘We could have got more, we had a couple more chances, and I’m just glad we’re in the next round.’
