Curtis is set to break through the century barrier for games this term if he continues to clock up matches at his current rate.

But he’s adamant he feels fresh after being given a mid-season break by Kenny Jackett last year.

The 23-year-old has started 15 league games on the bounce to take his total 82 outings in two seasons at Fratton Park.

After a five-game stint without a start in October, Curtis believes he’s in a good place to perform through the run-in at full throttle.

‘I feel as fresh as a daisy so hopefully I can keep going and maintain that until the end of the season.

‘I played in almost every game last season apart from when I had my finger injury.

‘I’ve come back stronger and fought for my place. Now it’s good to be playing week-in, week-out, but I’m taking it in his stride.’

Pompey’s attacking players have been eating up the miles with their high-tempo pressing through their recent winning form.

They now embark on a six-week period with mid-week and weekend commitments, which is going to seriously test the resolve of the squad, however.

Curtis added: ‘There’s a lot of games coming up and it will be Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday for the next six weeks.

‘I’m sure the gaffer will rotate the team but I’m fit enough to do it

‘All our stats are really high, all of the front four. It’s over 1,000m to 1,200m high-speed distance every week now.

‘When things were going wrong for us we knew what we had to do. It was digging in and working hard for each other.

‘The results are showing that.’
