An own goal from Daniel O'Shaughnessy would start the rout in the first half before goals from Kyle Bennett, Gareth Evans, Jamal Lowe and a Kal Naismith double was enough to start the party at a packed out PO4.
Now five years on, the Blues remain in League One with none of the members from that squad still in Danny Cowley’s side.

5. Enda Stevens
The underrated left-back was a regular fixture in Paul Cook’s starting XI’s while at Fratton Park, claiming the player of the season honour in his second season. Yet, he left for free and has had success with Sheffield United gaining promotion from the Championship in 2019 and would go onto play in the Premier League for two years. 6. Michael Doyle
The undisputed leader in the dressing room was captain for both of his season’s while with Pompey. Failing to agree to a new deal, the Irishman departed PO4 that summer but would go on to win promotion again from League Two the following season with Coventry City. After retiring in 2021, he became assistant head coach at Notts County where he still holds the same role now. Photo: Joe Pepler
7. Danny Rose
After Doyle’s departure that summer, Rose would be in-and-out of Kenny Jackett’s side and would later leave in 2018. Following a spell at Swindon, the 34-year-old joined Grimsby but was a part of the side that was relegated to the National League last term. Falling out with boss Paul Hurst, the midfielder found himself with National League South side Darlington but has since returned to the Mariners set-up. Photo: JPIMedia
8. Carl Baker
Despite playing a key role in the promotion campaign, Baker would only go onto play for Pompey four times after Kenny Jackett’s appointment. The right-midfielder would go on to have a spell in India with ATK before returning back to Coventry in 2018. The 35-year-old dropped down to National League that year but was appointed assistant coach at AFC Telford last November and also runs the Carl Baker Football Academy. Photo: Joe Pepler
