Sean Raggett salutes battling Portsmouth win on worst pitch former non-league man's ever played on
Goal hero Sean Raggett saluted battling Pompey as they set a new club record.
The 2-0 win at Tranmere made it nine wins on the spin for the Blues - their best form since joining the Football League in 1920.
They did so on a Prenton Park pitch the former non-league player branded the worst he’s played on in his career.
Raggett felt his team showed the battling qualities needed to overcome the challenge, however.
He said: ‘It’s the worst pitch I’ve played on in my career.
‘They are where they are in the league but they’ve got some good players so we knew it would be tough.
‘We managed to grind it out, got the goal in the first half and the second one put it to bed.
‘It was a battle and we came out on top.’
