Southampton fan and Peterborough co-owner makes Portsmouth admission after Fratton Park defeat

Southampton fan and co-owner of Peterborough, Jason Neale, has admitted Pompey are the last team he wants his club to lose to.

And in a bid to ease unrest over The Posh’s recent results – including Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at the Blues – he’s asked disgruntled fans to ‘keep the faith’.

Pompey’s victory over their promotion rivals saw them move above the London Road side in the League One table (fourth) on goal difference.

Meanwhile, it saw the visitors drop more vital points, with Darren Ferguson’s side picking up only one win in their past five league games.

The Peterborough boss, who beat Kenny Jackett to the October manager of the month award – has since faced criticism from certain sections of supporters.

But Neale attempted to lift spirits among Posh supporters via Twitter by insisting his one-time league leaders would return to the top again.

And he insisted he was just as disappointed as the rest – especially with Peterborough’s latest defeat coming at the hands of Southampton’s bitter rivals, Pompey.

Neale’s tweet read: ‘To all Posh fans. Everyone at the club is disappointed by recent results. Personally, there is no team I would rather not lose against than Pompey, but that’s football.

‘We were top in October and Darren was manager of the month. I am sure we will be top again. Keep the faith.’
