Stuart Pearce cuts Portsmouth coaching ties after returning to West Ham

Pompey have lost the services of Stuart Pearce following his return to West Ham.

Although there was never a fixed commitment, Pearce would sporadically pop into Pompey’s Copnor Road training ground and was often a presence last season before the lockdown.

Now he has joined West Ham as first-team coach, representing a reunion with manager David Moyes.

The pair were previously together during Moyes’ first spell with the Hammers, which ended in May 2018 to make way for Manuel Pellegrini.

When Moyes returned in December 2019, the board blocked attempts to also reinstall Pearce by his side.

However, the talkSPORT contributor has now been given the green light – which also ends his coaching association with Pompey.

Pompey continue to have Joe Gallen and Jake Wigley helping Jackett oversee Blues training.
