A Sunderland Echo report claims the Black Cats left-back did not suffer a serious head injury following a collision with team-mate Jon McLaughlin during Saturday’s game at Fratton Park.
The 32-year-old had to be stretchered off the pitch and taken to hospital following the second-half incident that initially left him unconscious.

Hide AdAt the final whistle, Sunderland manager Phil Parkinson said the former QPR man had suffered a ‘very bad’ injury.
And he blamed Pompey forward Ellis Harrison for the unfortunate incident, saying the half-time substitute had ‘pushed him’ into McLoughlin, adding ‘there's no need for him to do that’.
However, after a series of hospital tests, it’s been reported that the injury is not as bad as first feared.
Although, Lynch, who was discharged on Saturday night, will continue to be closely monitored and undergo tests to determine whether he has suffered any further injuries.
