Surprise Doncaster defeat hands Portsmouth Christmas number one in League One

Darren Moore’s side this evening hosted Shrewsbury in the knowledge victory would position them at the head of the table – above the Blues.
The fourth-placed team entered the fixture two points adrift of Kenny Jackett’s men, with two games in hand.

And that ensures Pompey lead League One going into the Christmas period.
Their Doncaster victory was more kudos for ex-Blues boss Cotterill, recently appointed as Shrewsbury manager.
The Shrews have now triumphed 1-0 at Hull, Lincoln and Doncaster in their last three games – all promotion challengers for Pompey.
