The popular defender will depart Fratton Park this summer, having agreed to join Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.
That means the Blues are likely to be in the market for a replacement during the transfer window – especially if Norwich loanee Sean Raggett also departs.
We’ve taken a look at some of the centre-backs that could fit the bill...
1. Josh Knight - Leicester City
As reported, it’s understood that Pompey are interested in the 22-year-old. He’s been impressive during his time on loan at Peterborough, scoring three goals in 26 games this term. Promotion would offer Knight a first chance of Championship football. Photo: Nigel Roddis
2. Chey Dunkley - Wigan Athletic
Paul Cook’s side are still in discussions with the ex-Oxford man who helped them the Latics in the League One crown in 2018. He’s currently sidelined after suffering a broken tibia in February. Photo: Lewis Storey
3. Jack Simpson - Bournemouth
A short drive across the south coast could tempt the 23-year-old if he's released by Bournemouth. Simpson has made eight appearances for the Cherries this term and has been down the pecking order. You'd suspect he'll want at least Championship football, however. Photo: Jan Kruger
4. Naby Sarr - Charlton Athletic
Undoubtedly would be a signing many would welcome. Sarr helped Charlton achieve promotion to the Championship last season and has scored three goals in 25 games this term. He’s out of contract at the end of the season, but wages could be a factor. Photo: James Chance
