The Blues dropped out of the play-off places following the 1-0 loss at Highbury – their second away loss in row against a promotion rival.

Kenny Jackett’s seventh-placed side also lost ground on the automatic promotion places, with Rotherham and Coventry both picking up hard-fought wins at Accrington and Rochdale respectively.

A far cry from the situation that Pompey were presented with back on Saturday, February 8, following a 2-0 triumph at Tranmere.

Back then a record-breaking ninth win in a row saw them have their automatic promotion in their own hands.

That’s not the case now, though, just two weeks later, despite games on hand on four of the current top six.

However, both Eisners are refusing to get too downbeat following the latest blow to the Blues’ promotion ambitions.

Via Twitter, both men acknowledged the frustration fans will be feeling following the Fleetwood setback.

Yet the Tornante duo believe staying positive remains a must.

Michael Eisner tweeted: ‘Frustrating. Frustrating. Frustrating. But onward to positivity. #PUP’

Meanwhile, son Eric posted: ‘Frustrating game. Frustrating conditions. Lots of games still to play.

Stay positive and focused. Bring the next two league games back home to Fratton! Onto Tuesday. #pup’

Pompey play host to MK Dons on Tuesday and Rochdale (Friday), before entertaining Arsenal in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Monday, March 2.

Their next away game is five days later (March 7) against Peterborough, who sit two places and two points above the Blues in the League One table.

Pompey, however, have two games in hand on the Posh.
