Robbie Blake revealed he could have joined Pompey during his playing career.

The former Burnley and Leeds forward spent three years as part of the Blues' coaching staff.

He was part of Paul Cook's backroom that led Pompey to the League Two title in 2017 and spent a seasonworking under Kenny Jackett before the boss opted for a reshuffle.

Blake's now first-tram coach at Bognor with Jack Pearce.

And in an interview with the Bognor Observer, he revealed that Harry Redknapp was interested in bringing him to the south coast during his playing carer.

And Blake regrets not completing a move to Pompey.

He said: ‘I actually had the opportunity to go to Portsmouth at one point in my career.

‘Harry Redknapp wanted to sign me but I decided to stay where I was as I was happy staying in and around the north.

‘My agent would tell me that southern teams were interested, but I’d always get the final say on where I wanted to go.

‘I’d have to say, one thing I do regret is probably not coming down south to play, it would have been a good opportunity.’
