The free football workouts ex-Portsmouth and Coventry favourite put on for people to stay active during lockdown

With the coronavirus accelerating throughout the country, government guidelines have stated it’s imperative for everyone to only leave home for essentials.

One form of exercise is also permitted, but only running or walking.

That means all parks football and five-a-side games plenty of us look forward to have been scrapped like Pompey’s League One season.

However, ex-Blues midfielder Carl Baker has been ensuring parents and their children can stay active and kick a ball around in their garden.

Having set up the Carl Baker Football Academy, the 2017 League Two title winner has offered a small insight into his coaching sessions.

Baker, who scored nine goals in 50 appearances for the Blues, put on free ‘soccercise’ sessions live on Facebook on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

There was also a message from another former Pompey favourite, Teddy Sheringham, posted on Baker’s Twitter account hoping everyone in the academy was staying fit and safe during the pandemic.
