And the Blues skipper would be open to doing that behind closed doors if it means this season’s efforts weren’t written off.

Naylor believes his side can complete the campaign in as little as three weeks as and when they’re given the green light to resume playing.

Football is considering the best possible solutions to the season being suspended amid the coronavirus crisis.

Naylor’s wants to see the season finish with the Blues handily placed in League One - and is prepared to do everything to ensure that’s the case.

He said: ‘I think we just want to get the season done. We’re so close to getting it done now.

‘If we had 20 games left it may be a different story.

‘But with nine games to go I think we could get them done in three weeks if it was needed.

‘I know it’s a big ask, but I’d be on board with if they could plan the schedule out with the games.

‘Maybe if you had a couple of Thursdays with games to cram them in. That might be the only way to do it.

‘If it’s going to go on into the summer I’d do it to get the season done and try to get us promoted.’

Naylor acknowledged playing without the Pompey faithful behind their team behind closed doors would be a huge blow, but a sacrifice worth making if it mean completing the season.

He added: ‘Even if it’s behind closed doors, it wouldn’t be nice because our fans are brilliant away and at home.

‘They are a massive bonus for us, but if that’s the situation I’m sure we’d all be on board to get the season done.

‘Hopefully we could then have some time to recharge and go again with the next season.’
