Peter Crouch highlighted former Pompey defender Darren Moore when being asked to name which team-mate had the worst touch in his playing career.

The former England striker believes the former Blues powerhouse’s style of play was more suited to physical dominance over ball-playing ability.

And that led to Crouch joking the man affectionately known as Bruno by supporters didn’t necessarily have the attributes to play out from the back.

The pair were Pompey team-mates in the 6ft 7in striker’s first spell at Fratton Park in 2001.

And when asked which team-mate had the worst touch in his Daily Mail column, this was Crouch’s response.

He said: ‘The first thing I will say is that to make it as a professional footballer you are highly skilled, talented and determined.

‘I wouldn't, for a moment, dream of belittling someone who I played alongside.

‘I love Darren to bits, he was a man-mountain at Portsmouth and helped me so much.

‘I think we would both agree, however, that his qualities were more centred on force rather than finesse!’
