This is where Portsmouth and Coventry City will finish in League One - under the controversial 'cut in half' solution

The League One season is set to be declared finished this week - with the EFL considering a number of options as to how to decide promotion and relegation.

And while a weighted points-per-game solution seems to be the favoured method among clubs, there are a number of other possibilities.

And one which has been suggested - and has been heavily discussed on the continent - is the idea of cutting the season in half.

This model only counts each team's first game against each other, so only takes into account 22 games - in effect, the first half of the season.

Indeed, any results after the halfway stage would not be counted, which could be a controversial way to decide things.
