Tranmere team news

Tranmere will again be without Ollie Banks, Mark Ellis and Evans Gumbs (all knee injuries), after they missed the midweek defeat at the hands of Doncaster.

Manager Micky Mellon will also be without the services of Corey Blackett-Taylor (shin) and Morgan Feeney (hamstring).

Peter Clarke, who also missed Tuesday night’s defeat to Doncaster, remains a doubt for the fixture at Prenton Park.

It is likely new signing Andy Cook will again lead the line for the League One strugglers.

Oli Hawkins could miss Pompey’s next two matches – against Tranmere today and the trip to Coventry on Tuesday night.

Hawkins suffered a head injury representing the reserves in a 2-1 loss at Exeter on Tuesday.

He was forced off in the 40th minute having sustained concussion and was replaced by Alfie Stanley.

Protocol means the ex-Dagenham man is forced to miss the clash at Prenton Park – although he hasn’t featured in the past two Blues match-day squads.
