According to Football Insider, Kenny Jackett has contacted the Premier League club about their Poland under-21 international midfielder.

However, the Blues apparently face competition for the 19-year-old, with League One rivals Swindon and Gillingham also keen.

The 19-year-old, who has made three first team appearances for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, is believed to be available for a season-long loan.

It’s claimed he’s keen to get more experience after featuring for Leeds’ under-23s since arriving from Polish outfit Ruch Chorzow in January 2019.

Bogusz told TVP Sport: ‘I hope to be on loan.

‘I would like to play in a major league every week because I miss the "normal” games.

‘Talks are still going on. I get along. I do not want to confuse what these directions are, but there are several options.’

Pompey are on the look out for a new midfielder – as first reported by The News on Monday.

Bryn Morris and Tom Naylor have been manager Jackett’s first-choice pairing in the middle of the park, but reinforcements are actively being pursued.

Earlier in the week, Football Insider reported that the Blues were interested in free agent Jake Doyle-Hayes, who was released by Aston Villa during the summer.

However, The News understands that Pompey are not interested in the Republic of Ireland under-21 international.

The Blues currently have one free place available in their 22-man squad after being informed they will have to register Reeco Hackett-Fairchild, despite the forward being on loan at non-league Bromley.
