According to ESPN, the Blues have ‘expressed an interest’ in the 19-year-old who recently signed a new one-year deal at the Emirates.

But if manager Kenny Jackett is to make a loan move, he might have to see off competition from Leeds, Sunderland, Luton and Barnsley.

They, too, are seemingly keen on the former Reading youth team player, who joined the Gunners in 2019.

It is reported the teenager has impressed Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta with his attitude and application and is to train with the first-team squad this week should they return to group sessions.

Arteta, though, is keen for the youngster to get much-needed game time under his belt and is apparently ready to test him elsewhere.

Pompey are currently well-stocked in the goalkeeping department.

Alex Bass remains Jackett’s No1, after he overtook Craig MacGillivray in the pecking order for the New Year’s Day trip to Gillingham.

The Blues signed American stopper Duncan Turnbull just before coronavirus caused the suspension of football.

Luke McGee, who was on loan at Bradford before the Covid-19 outbreak, also remains on Pompey’s books.

But the former Spurs keeper will leave the Blues upon the expiry of his contract next month.
