Both Tony Pulis and Paul Cook head the betting to be the next man in the Hillsborough hot seat after Gary Monk was sacked by the Championship side on Monday night.

The former Blues duo are currently out of work, with Pulis’ last job at Middlesbrough ending at the end of the 2018-19 season.

He was in charge at Fratton Park in 2000 but was sacked after 10 months.

Cook left Wigan in August after the Latics moved into administration and were relegated to League One.

He lead Pompey to the 2016-17 League Two title but quickly departed to head to the DW Stadium – something he only recently spoke about in The Full-time Whittle Podcast.

Pulis is currently 1/3 favourite, according to Skybet, to be the next Wednesday boss, with the Yorkshire side second from bottom in the table.

Cook, who has also been linked with the managers’ jobs at Swindon, Mansfield and Salford is second favourite at 3/1.

Joining the former Blues duo in the betting is one-time Blues player Eddie Howe (16/1) and Darren Moore – now in charge of Doncaster Rovers – 25/1.
