A nightmare week for the Cowleys continued with a 1-0 loss at MK Dons which has seen just a point collected from three games.

It’s been just a single goal in that time, too, as the Blues drew another blank at Stadium MK.

Johnson knows the lack of goals is hurting Pompey, but feels they have shown this season they can carve open teams - and the right-back believes they will find the right formula again ahead of a huge week with clashes against the bottom two sides to come.

Johnson said: ‘We created a few little bits with the interchanges.

‘In the game you sometimes get a different perception, but from memory we had a few chances and created a few, it was just finishing them.

‘You can obviously create more but we maybe just lacked that finishing edge in the final third.

‘But we’ve shown we’ve can do that in stages of the season and hopefully we can do that starting Tuesday.’
