The on-loan Barnsley midfielder has every confidence the Blues can triumph in today’s FA Cup tie at Fratton Park (3pm).

It means he’ll have to watch the fourth-round clash from the PO4 stands, after starting all three games for Kenny Jackett’s side since his arrival.

Pompey aim to pull off an upset against Barnsley, who sit 22nd in the Championship and four points adrift of safety.

Gerhard Struber’s men are only nine places above the Blues in the football pyramid, however.

And that’s why McGeehan feels Jackett’s men can reach the fifth round of the historic competition for the first time since 2010.

He said: ‘I quite fancy us, to be fair. It’s a tough place for anyone to come and I fancy us.

‘It was close last season between who was promoted out of Pompey and Barnsley.

‘Obviously, Barnsley just scrapped it in the end but Fratton Park is a tough place to come and we had some good games last season.

‘It’ll be a close run-in. Both teams play different styles, so it’s hard to judge in that way.

‘There are different pressures here and things but I think it’ll be an interesting game and I look forward to see how it plays out.’

McGeehan admits it’ll be a strange feeling watching Pompey playing against the side he’s tied down to until the summer of 2021.

He added: ‘I’ve only been away from Barnsley for a few weeks and it's definitely a weird one, but I’m quite excited to watch the game.’
