That was a season like no other as Harry Redknapp’s troops took the Blues to the Championship title and the then Premiership.
But Pompey had to wait for their moment of glory as the struggling Owls shocked the would-be champions with a surprise 2-1 win at Fratton Park.
Unsurprisingly, the fixture lives long in the memory of both sets of supporters.
But where are the Blues players who were named in Redknapp’s starting XI that day now?
We’ve had a look around to see...

9. Steve Stone
Still very much a Fratton favourite among many, Stone played 80 times for the Blues during a three-year spell. After leaving in 2005, his final career season saw him play at Leeds where he retired in 2006. During a five-year stay at Newcastle, the 50-year-old was assistant boss to Alan Pardew and took temporary charge alongside John Carver in 2014. After a spell at the BBC, Stone is now first-team coach at Burnley. Picture: Mike Hewitt/Getty Images Photo: Mike Hewitt

10. Lee Bradbury
The Isle-of-Wight-born forward spent eight years at Fratton Park, much of which was dotted with loan spells. Prior to the Sheffield Wednesday game, Bradbury returned to Pompey following a loan at Hillsborough and started for Redknapp's side against his former team-mates. The 46-year-old had spells at Crystal Palace, Derby and Oxford before retiring at Bournemouth in 2011. Bradbury has managed the Hawks and Eastbourne Borough and is currently assistant manager at Crawley. Picture: Clive Rose/Getty Images Photo: Clive Rose

11. Svetoslav Todorov
Another Fratton favourite, who is still hailed as one of the best Pompey strikers after scoring 27 goals during the promotion season. Toddy was only able to total 82 appearances during his five-year spell after being hampered by injuries. After moving to Charlton in 2007, Todorov then moved back to Europe before retiring in 2013. He has since had spells as assistant manager at Southend before a youth coach role at Crystal Palace. Picture: Mike Hewitt/Getty Images Photo: Mike Hewitt
