Russell leaves Pompey

Darel Russell has become the latest player to leave Pompey.

The midfielder’s one-month contract was due to expire after tomorrow night’s match with Notts County.

But having originally said he would wait until Wednesday to decide whether to pen a new deal with the Blues, Guy Whittingham has confirmed the 32-year-old has now left the club.

Russell told The News today he was thinking of leaving Pompey because he wanted to win trophies.

The former Norwich man did not train today and was not going to be considered for tomorrow.
