Saturn Royale reach PDFA Cup final – City of Portsmouth Sunday League and cup round-up

Saturn Royale will represent the City of Portsmouth Sunday League in the PDFA Plate Cup final after they thrashed Co-op Dragons 5-0.

Saturn got off to a lightning start when Louie Jeff crossed for Karl Walsh to slot home after only 30 seconds.

Walsh then returned the compliment on 20 minutes when he sent over a cross for top scorer Jeff to smash home.

Royale always looked dangerous going forward and they increased their lead 10 minutes before the break through Allan Shaw.

In the second half Saturn continued to dominate and Shaw and George Cartmell - the latter after a Jeff shot had hit a post - added further goals.

Saturn will now face Gosport, Fareham and Solent League side White Horse Reserves in the final.

AFC Bedhampton Village remain undefeated in 2023 after replacing Tamworth as Division 2 leaders with a 3-0 success over them. Reece Austin, Kai Gateshill and James Murdock netted.

Seagull, who would leap into pole position if they won their games in hand, defeated AC Copnor 4-2 with Sam Emeney, Isaac Roberts, Dan Sibley and Aiden Hutchings scoring.

Jay Saunders went nap in Division 4, taking his seasonal tally to 26, as Padnell Rovers caned Jubilee 10-4. Jacob Mulligan (2), Spencer Craddock, Louis Smith and Harry Hatherley were also on target.

Two players struck hat-tricks as leaders Cross Keys Athletic thrashed Al's Bar 8-0.

Dale March struck the opening two goals before Declan Horn converted a penalty. Connor Marriott and Johnny White extended the lead before half-time.

Al's Bar held out for the first 20 minutes of the second half until White pounced on a defensive mix up.

Soon after White completed his hat-trick with March doing likewise, from the penalty spot, to complete the rout.

Jack Lawton gave Fleur De Lys a half-time lead against Cowplain, who hit back to win 2-1 through goals from Cameron Tomkins and Louis White.

Division 5 leaders AFC Farlington increased their goal difference with an 11-1 hammering of bottom club Fratton Trades Reserves.

Alfie Warren’s hat-trick took his seasonal tally to 29 with Pete Snaith (2), Clayton Saunders (2), Jamie West (2), Perry Pout and Danny Backhouse also on target. Ashley Turner replied.

Connor Smith, the fifth tier’s top scorer with 38 goals in 18 appearances, was on target in Pelham Arms’ 2-0 win over Freehouse Reserves B. Jack Ainsley also scored.

With second placed Saturn engaged in cup action, Chichester increased their lead at the top of Division 6 to six points with a 2-1 win over AFC Fairfields, Rob Whitehead grabbing a brace.
