Stevens hope... Linganzi boost

And Amine Linganzi is set to give Pompey an injury boost by returning at Colchester this weekend.

Stevens raised concerns when he went down defending a cross in last night’s 2-0 win at Crawley.

Team-mate Matt Clarke immediately indicated a change was necessary and Noel Hunt replaced the left-back, with Kal Naismith dropping into his position.

It was a concerning moment with it clear the Irishman was unable to continue.

Stevens has an impressive Pompey appearance record, however, and Cook was confident that would remain the case.

Cook indicated the problem was a dead leg, with it initially appearing the 26-year-old had suffered a muscle injury.

The Blues boss said: ‘Enda has a dead leg. It doesn’t look too bad.

‘We will have to have a look at it but we would hope he would be okay for Saturday.’

Meanwhile, Linganzi travelled to the Broadfield Stadium with the rest of the squad for last night’s key win.

He sat out the success with a hamstring problem which forced him off in the weekend loss to Crewe.

The absence ended an unbroken run of seven starts for the 27-year-old.

That represented his best spell in Cook’s starting line-up since arriving at the club last August.

Linganzi has made 15 Pompey starts, with a further six outings coming from the bench.

The former Blackburn man was upbeat at the prospects of being back in contention for Colchester.

He said: ‘It was a groin and then hamstring problem in my left leg.

‘It’s happened because of fatigue but it will be fine.

‘I’ll be back on Saturday, no problem.’
