Sub Smith inspires Pompey reserves win
Michael Smith came off the bench to inspire Pompey's reserves to victory this afternoon.
Ian Foster’s side ran out 3-2 winners against Crawley at their Copnor Road training ground.
The hosts had already struck the crossbar three times before Crawley took the lead on 34 minutes.
Roarie Deacon cut in from the left and goalkeeper Alex Bass failed to keep hold of his shot, allowing the ball to squirm over the line.
The Blues were level only four minutes later when Kal Naismith netted at the far post following good work from Conor Chaplin.
Smith was introduced for Adam McGurk on the hour mark and swiftly made his impact.
On 68 minutes, the on-loan striker smartly turned home Ben Tollitt’s right-wing cross.
Smith then turned provider in the 78th minute for Adam May to slot home Pompey’s third.
Crawley pulled one back in the 87th minute, but the Blues held on for victory.
