The summer arrivals have unexpectedly cut short their stays at the National League South side just days before Saturday’s trip to Ebbsfleet United.

They join goalkeeper Martin Rice in quitting the club after he, another close-season buy by manager Alex Pike, accused the financially-struggling outfit of failing to live up to promises made to him.

Striker Flood scored five goals in 15 appearances for Borough after his move from Basingstoke in May, with his last coming in Saturday’s FA Trophy exit at the hands of AFC Sudbury.

He confirmed his departure on Wednesday night via Twitter.

The front man said: ‘I have decided to leave Gosport Borough with immediate effect.

‘I wish the club, especially all the lads the very best, a great bunch.’

Midfielder Barron leaves after making 10 appearances and scoring two goals, following his move from Winchester City.

He last lined up for Gosport in the 5-2 defeat at the hands of Concord Rangers last month, coming on as an 84th-minute substitute.

As the pair depart, Borough have brought in former Pompey keeper Nick Jordan.

The shot-stopper, who came out of retirement to join, played in Wednesday night’s 3-0 friendly defeat at the hands of an AFC Bournemouth development side.

He is expected to be in the squad for tomorrow’s trip to Kent.

Jordan made three appearances on the Blues’ bench during the 2006-07 Premier League season.

He was released by the Fratton Park club at the end of the 2007-08 season.

Since then he’s had spells at Exeter City, Crawley Town, Weymouth, Torquay United and Dorchester Town.
