We look at his career to date and see what road he took after being released by the Blues in 2010.

He was released from his contract at Bristol City two years later and was then offered a trial by then-Premier League Pompey.

His first Pompey outing came for the reserves against Fulham, with then-manager Paul Hart describing his display as ‘the most impressive debut he had seen from any young player’.

A professional contract was offered to him in July 2009, but the defender failed to make an appearance for the Blues first team.

Wilkinson joined Northampton Town on loan in January 2010 but didn’t feature for their senior team.

He then moved to Eastleigh on loan until the end of the season, before being released from Fratton Park in July 2010.

A move to Dagenham & Redbridge followed, where Wilkinson made 64 appearances in his four years there.

However, these were punctuated by loan moved to Boreham Wood (twice) and Dartford.

Wilkinson won Dagenham’s player of the year award in 2012.

In July 2014, Wilkinson signed for Luton Town on a one-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

He made his debut for Luton in a 1–0 away win over Carlisle in August 2014, their first Football League game in five years.

Wilkinson scored his first goal for the club in a 2–0 home win over Oxford United in September 2014.

In January of this year, Luton sold Wilkinson to fellow League Two club Stevenage.

He made his debut for the club in a 0–0 draw against Barnet a day later.

Wilkinson has currently made 32 appearances for the Boro.
