What ex-Portsmouth boss Paul Cook had to say on management return at Sheffield Wednesday
Paul Cook admitted he’s ‘flattered’ to be linked with a return at Sheffield Wednesday as odds on him becoming their new manager plummeted.
The former Pompey boss is being heavily touted for a return to the game with the Owls after leaving the Wigan post last July.
Cook is now clear 1/3 favourite to be named as Tony Pulis’ successor with reports that he’s be sounded out about the position.
The Scouser was part of the Sky Sports team for Accrington’s 2-0 win at Charlton last night where he was asked about the prospect of a return at Hillsborough.
Cook said: ‘It is very, very flattering to be linked. I am an out-of-work manager and I am desperate to get back into football.
‘You miss the day to day of the dressing room, good or bad. The interaction with the players.
‘Sheffield Wednesday is an absolutely massive football club. It would be a fantastic club for anyone to manage so while I'm being linked with it, it is obviously very flattering.’
