The Blues racked up a 10th shutout of the season in the 2-0 victory over Walsall last night.

Oli Hawkins and Ronan Curtis scored either side of half-time to keep Kenny Jackett's men four points clear at the top of League One.

Pompey's rearguard was impregnable throughout, with keeper Craig MacGillivray rarely being called into action against the Saddlers.

The Blues' defensive record is something Whatmough and his team-mates take pride in.

And the Gosport centre-back knows the four-pronged attack of Hawkins, Curtis, Jamal Lowe and Gareth Evans will deliver in the opposite third.

'˜That is what we take pride from,' said Whatmough.

'˜Defensively, everyone in the squad wants a clean sheet. That is the first thing that we say before we go out there.

'˜We say if we keep a clean sheet then we'll win the game.

'˜Last night, they didn't look like threatening us at all.

'˜The front three are all looking dangerous and that's what we want to see as defenders because they will get goals.

'˜There's Evo as well. He's been very good and you know what you're going to get from him.'
