Williamson keen for midfield return

But Williamson insisted he would be prepared to carry on defending for Michael Appleton’s side this season.
The 30-year-old made up part of the backline who shipped two poor goals in defeat at the Lamex Stadium last night.

Williamson admitted he’s adjusting to his new role after playing in midfield, but doesn’t expect to remain there.
He said: ‘It’s different playing at right-back.
‘I’ve played a few games there in my career.
‘It’s not ideal but if I’ve got a job to do for the team I will do it.
‘It’s a short-term thing and that’s something I’ve spoken to the gaffer about.

‘It’s not ideal not playing in my preferred position but I don’t mind playing there.’
Williamson felt his side had more than enough chances to get a return from the match against Gary Smith’s side.
But he made no bones about the fact it’s errors on the back foot which were most crucial as Pompey fell to a 2-1 loss.
Williamson said: ‘It was a very frustrating evening.
‘We had more than enough chances to win the game and were the better team.
‘We let ourselves down with our defending in certain parts.
‘It’s what happens in the box which counts at the end of the day.’
