York City v Pompey: Away-Day Guide
STADIUM: Bootham Crescent, YO30 7AQ.
The Minstermen’s ground has a capacity of around 8,000 and most Pompey fans will be on the uncovered terrace behind one goal, with some seats on the side.
Both areas share the same facilities.
Directions: Leave the A1(M) at Junction 44 and continue on to the A64 signposted York.

Hide AdContinue for around 10 miles then exit on to the A1237 ring road.
Go straight over four roundabouts then at the fifth take the third exit on to the A19 towards York city centre.
Continue on the A19 for around two miles until you see a pub on your left called the Burton Stone Inn.
Turn left into Burton Stone Lane, then right into Grosvenor Road which will bring you to the ground.

Hide AdPARKING: There is no parking at the ground and very little street parking.
The two nearest car parks are Marygate Car Park, Frederic Street YO30 7DT, and Bootham Row Car Park, Bootham Row YO30 7BP.
They are both about half a mile away from the ground and are listed as 24 hour.
There will be a charge for parking.
nearest train station: On Tuesday afternoon there are regular trains running from London Kings Cross to York and the journey takes about two hours.

Hide AdThe last train back from York to London leaves at 10.20pm and arrives at Kings Cross at 1.05am.
But there are no trains back to Portsmouth until the morning.
The station is in the centre of York, about 20 minutes walk from the ground.
Turn left out of the station and follow the road down over the river.

Hide AdContinue along Museum Street and just before you get to York Minster take a left, go past the Theatre Royal then take the next left down Bootham.
Carry on up Bootham then turn right into Boothham Crescent just after the Churchill Hotel. The ground is at the end of the road.
WHERE TO EAT AND DRINK: The nearest pub to the ground is the Burton Stone Inn, Clifton Road, York YO30 6AW. It has BT Sport and also offers accommodation.
The Pitchside Bar on one corner of the ground usually welcomes away fans.

Hide AdIf you are coming by train and fancy a bar that offers a large range of cask ales and craft beer, then The York Tap, YO24 1AB, is next to the station.
In York city centre, there is a wide variety including The Maltings, Tanner’s Moat, YO1 6HU; Lendal Cellars, 26 Lendal, YO1 8AA and Harkers, 1 St Helen Square, YO1 8QN.
Other popular bars are the Old Grey Mare, Clifton Green, YO30 6 LH, which advertises accommodation and The Three Legged Mare, 15 High Petergate, YO1 7EN, which boasts real ales and continental bottled beers.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS: Trips to Bootham Crescent have never been particularly successful for Pompey.
