Samuel Laxton had been stuck on a high break of 41 for nearly nine months, while Tyler Mack made his personal best of 15 in June.

However, division one leader Laxton edged closer to a first half-century with a 43 in his final match against Zak Truscott in the Wednesday Junior Snooker League.

And there was double delight for Mack, who chalked up a 16 against Jake Martin on Monday and an 18 against Antony Terroni two days later.

Meanwhile, Keira Hiscock won the top group in the Junior Pool League and now has a two-point lead over defending champion Jayden Brookes in division one.

Six-year-old Jayden Hickley extended his lead in division two with four wins out of six.

Elsewhere, Jamie Wilson pocketed £55 prize money for reaching the semi-finals (second leg) of the Cuestars Championship Tour at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club.

The 14-year was denied a first-ever final appearance by Mark Vincent '“ the eventual tournament winner from Portishead, near Bristol '“ who collected £250.

Wilson, who reached the final of the Open Series at the same club the previous day, had actually beaten Vincent 2-1 in the group stages but the score was reversed when the pair met again in the knockout rounds.

Former English Under-18 champion Mark Lloyd, who recently complied his third maximum 147 break in a practice match, fired in a 102 against home player Stu Barter.

In the last-16, Pascal Richard lost 2-0 to Lloyd, who was then knocked out 2-0 by Vincent in the quarter-finals.
