New Waterlooville sides make flying start

LEAGUE snooker has returned to Waterlooville with the new Sports Bar up and running at the old Aston Road site.

Steve Wilson and his wife Suzy have opened the new club there.

They have a strong side in Portsmouth & District League division one.

While three teams have returned in division three and they started the season well.

Meanwhile, Copnor A could not wait to post a 10-2 win over their D team to take top spot.

It may not last, however, as the Southsea men have the pedigree.

Jon Sunderland and Mark Tillison opened the scoring but Dave Glover cut it to 4-2.

Lee Eden, Steve Toms and Scott Compton took over again with two each.

Andy Boulton hit the best break of 60 to guide Craneswater A to an 8-4 win against Leigh Park.

Mike Talmondt was also on the scoresheet.

Waterlooville Sports picked up an 8-4 win at Bellair with doubles by Steve Wilson, Jamie Wilson and Craig Skeggs. Lee Harding was the best for the Havant side.

Emsworth were too good for newly-promoted Copnor E.

Hugh Pollard, Greg Harding, with a 36 and a 31 break, Chris Hardyman and Gavin Mengham dominated, despite resistance from John Wyatt.

Steve Hughes and Frank Baxter edged Cowplain Z to a 7-5 win against Craneswater Z.

Copnor Xcels kicked off with an 8-4 win over Broadoak in division two.

Sam Laxton, Kev Figgins and Jim Smith saw off Lance Cornwall.

Cowplain Gas did similar work at North End Bowls.

Paul Lees was in outstanding form, cancelling out a Colin Johnson double.

A trio of Paul Chivers, Jon Challacombe and Paul Tinsley set Pompey Royals up for a 7-5 win against Alexandra, who were well served by Dave Harfield and Ian Cotton.

Portchester X drew with Caneswater R as Jason Tame and Andy Carter bagged a brace apiece.

Tony May and Wayne Talley gave Bellair B a 7-5 win at Craneswater Q.

All of the games in division three produced 8-4 scorelines.

Three went to Waterlooville and one to Craneswater Dandy.

The Waterlooville B side beat Carlton with two from Nathan Hickley, Ben Tillison and Colin Johnson.

Ted Dowse led the D squad to victory at Leigh Park B.

Dean Bates was good for the Workies but it did not stop Dave Weedon and Barry Doswell.

Rob Derry, Barry Wooley and Gary Wilton completed the treble success at Copnor Cuestars.

Pete Gorvin won two for Cowplain B then Brian Elsegood, Rob Dandy and Nick Hutton saw Craneswater Dandy over the line.
