Bedhampton Mariners have clinched a Hampshire Cricket League title in the club’s 150th anniversary season.

A 15th win in 16 County 4 South fixtures - by five wickets against rock bottom Curdridge - ensured Mariners claimed the silverware on the penultimate weekend of a sun-drenched campaign.

Asked to chase 240 at Bidbury Mead, the hosts got over the line with more than six overs to spare.

Ville suffered a bout of promotion jitters when they were thumped by 104 runs at Rowlands Avenue by Ventnor 2nds.

Ross Whyte (72) and Sam Guerin (69) - the latter is the division’s leading run-getter with 879 - were the main contributors to the visitors’ 258-9 total.
