Five star Phoenix beat Admiral Drake to land darts title

Their team of Brad Mulholland, Vince Aston, Lloyd Walker, Lee Smith and Lee Cook triumphed 3-2 over Admiral Drake B in the final.

Mike Symes gave Drake the lead before Walker hit a 92 game-shot to pull Drake

level and Smith moved them 2-1 up.

Danny Smith notched a 15-dart leg as he restored parity for Drake but Phoenix refused to roll over with Mulholland winning the deciding clash.

Phoenix whitewashed Harvest Home 5-0 in the semi-finals while Drake edged out Phoenix

North End A 3-2.

Stan Brimecome snr gave Phoenix A the lead only for Danny Smith and Sam Head to move

Drake 2-1 up.

Phoenix A hit back through John Tazewell but it was to no avail as Barry Stevens booked Drake’s place in the final.

Phoenix A emerged victorious from the third-place play-off, beating Harvest 4-1.

Tazewell and Dave Rogers gave Phoenix a 2-0 lead before Phil King got Harvest off the mark.

Stan Brimecome jnr and Stan Brimecome snr took the two remaining ties to give Phoenix a

convincing success.

Andy Jenkins took top spot in week five of the Portsmouth Individual League.

He whitewashed Simon Whitlock 4-0 in the final.

Jenkins also won his semi-final 4-0, dispatching Bob Crawley, while he edged out Lee Smith 4-3 in the last eight.

Whitlock, who fired in six maximums and a 170 finish, won his quarter-final 4-0 against Liam Jafkins before triumphing 4-3 over Callum Francis in the next round.

Charlie Large won the Plate contest, beating Ryan Groves into runners-up spot.

Large beat Matt Charman in the semis while Groves overcame Ben Brown.

Jafkins and Rob Collins both threw 11-dart legs.
