Havant snooker starlet Jamie Wilson bowed out of the UK Championship at the first round stage after suffering a 6-1 defeat to former Masters champion Mark Allen.

The 17-year-old, who made it onto the main tour earlier this year, took the opening frame against the Northern Irish world number nine in Milton Keynes.

But the reigning Champion of Champions title holder recovered to claim six frames on the bounce and defeat Wilson in Milton Keynes.

Allen hit a century break of 132 as well as half-century visits of 85 and 51 on his way to securing a spot in the second round.

It was the second time the Havant potter has faced top 10 player Allen since turning pro in September.

On that occasion, Wilson shared the four frames (2-2) they played in the Championship League group stages.

The teenager, still searching for a first win since making it on the main tour after qualifying through Q School, is entered in the Scottish Open where he will face Martin O'Donnell.
