Havant's Jamie Wilson secures stunning whitewash win to move a step closer to main draw of the World Championship and iconic Crucible Theatre
Jamie Wilson started his road to trying to win a place at the snooker World Championship with a stunning whitewash victory over Barry Pinches.
The Havant potter, 17, produced a near faultless performance to record a 6-0 triumph over an opponent 33 years his senior in the World Championship first round qualifying stage this afternoon.
Teenage cueist Wilson struck three half-century breaks in the final four frames of the match to move a step closer to reaching the Crucible Theatre.
The emerging prospect, still in his first year as a professional, is now three qualifying wins away from reaching the main World Championship draw.
Wilson can now look forward to a second round qualifying meeting with Welshman Jak Jones at the English Institute of Sport on Thursday.
