It is a rare opportunity for the rugby fraternity in the area to enjoy Friday night under the lights at Hooks Lane.

Third-placed Havant will fancy their chances of taking the scalp of the leaders.

In the reverse fixture at the end of October, the two sides battled in awful conditions to an entertaining 17-17 draw.

Roll forward four months and it looks like it could be similar conditions, with heavy rain and strong winds forecast.

Despite the weather concerns, Field will be hoping their supporters travel in the numbers that watched them win at Alton in a bid to drown out Havant's large and noisy crowd.

Coach Jim Pearce remarked: ‘Yet again, we look at this fixture and no further.

‘It could be assumed that the pressure is on Havant to perform for their home crowd and take the scalp of the leaders.

‘However, their issues are not ours and we travel with the same narrative that we had all season - to go out and enjoy our rugby.

‘We have a simple approach - accuracy and control when in possession and hard work to regain the ball when possession is lost.

‘The conditions could be a leveller but on a pitch that plays fast, we will be looking to use the elements to our advantage.

‘As the highest-ranked mainland club in the county, Havant have a large pool of the best players in the area.

‘This, allied with their fantastic pitch and facilities, makes for a special occasion whenever you play them.

‘It is a great honour to be able to play against a side that can potentially include many players with high London League match experience, peppered with youth players that have come through their academy.

‘As for us, the senior squads have been steady of late and we have players coming back to add to the depth.

‘On the debit side, though, we are managing a couple of players with niggles and have a few unavailable due to work commitments and illness.

‘Regardless, we will select the three strongest squads we can for this weekends fixtures, enjoy ourselves and put on a display that we hope the crowd will enjoy so they come back for more.’
