The 15-year-old was undefeated in the first week’s action.

But Sharp, his final opponent, didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

Needing the last two colours, Kneller fluked the pink.

And, following a short exchange, Sharp fired the black into a top corner pocket only for the cue-ball to travel the full length of the table and disappear into the yellow pocket.

Meanwhile, a new generation of young girls are following in the footsteps of world number 21 Chloe White, who heads to Northampton today for the English Women’s Championship.

Nine-year-old Chloe Hall knocked in a new high break of 16 against Carter Wells in the penultimate week of the Monday Junior Snooker League.

Keira Hiscock is sixth in Division 1, Elodie Hall is hot on her sister’s heels in Division 2 and eight-year-old Keira Jackson is ready to make the transition from pool to snooker.

Jamie Wilson takes a five-point lead over Owen Jenkins into the final week. Kneller is one point further back in third place.

Fourth-placed Tyler Mack won the top group on a three-way tiebreak.

Aaron Wilson is favourite to claim the Division 2 title, while second-group winner Rhys Pearce cannot be caught at the top of Division 3.

Seven straight wins took two-time champion Pearce 20 points clear of Harrison Heath at the top of the Junior Pool League.

Hiscock, Tyler Rodgers, Jackson and Division 2 leader Archie Crump tied for second place in the eight-strong round-robin group.
