Bradbury: My Hawks won't be bullied

He was also delighted to see striker Jason Prior end his three-month goal drought in Saturday’s triumph.

Prior scored both goals – his first in the league since November.

Hawks keeper Ryan Young was not called upon to make a save in a display Bradbury felt was very business-like.

‘It was a very dogged, hard-working performance against physical opponents,’ said the boss.

‘We were deserved winners and we could easily have scored a few more.

‘It was important that we got the job done and we didn’t disappoint.

‘We played some decent football and once we got the first goal there was no looking back.

‘We looked strong and we showed a great willingness to run around.

‘It was a very good squad performance and showed the strength in depth we possess.

‘It also showed we won’t allow opponents to bully or intimidate us.

‘We are prepared to go toe-to-toe in those situations but do it in the right manner.

‘And once we did that we earned the right to get on the ball and play our football.’

It took the Hawks 35 minutes to make the breakthrough and it came with a clinical piece of finishing from Prior.

The impressive Brian Stock sent in a long free-kick from the right and when the ball dropped in the area, Prior was on it in a flash.

He then despatched a well-struck half-volley into the bottom corner.

Five minutes into the second half Prior struck a second – again after a Stock free-kick.

On this occasion Rory Williams saw his shot beaten out by the Hungerford goalkeeper.

And the predatory Prior was on hand to thump in the loose ball.

Bradbury added: ‘Jason is more than goals. He contributes so much else.

‘He scored a good couple of goals and could easily have had a hat-trick.

‘He is a focal point for us as a team and a trigger for us to press high up the pitch. It enables us to get at defenders and he does that very well.

‘Ultimately as a centre-forward you get judged on goals, though.

‘That is 15 in the league now and he is ticking along nicely.’

An excellent reflex save at the near post denied Prior his hat-trick.

The Hawks are second in the table, three points behind leaders Dartford but with three games in hand.
