Toms sees off Jacks to lift trophy

COPNOR A beat Cowplain Jacks 823-777 to win the Portsmouth & District League Presidents Cup.

In the first match Copnor A’s Mick Hall played the impressive Bill Phillips and came up just short, losing 150 to 110.

Jon Sunderland played Dave Rees and with Sunderland well back he just ran out of steam losing 150-117.

Kev Harding played the improving Steve Wilson and ran out victorious 150-100.

Mark Tillison made breaks of 42 and 34 as he beat Frank Baxter 150-108.

Skipper Scott Compton played fellow skipper Heath Smith.

Compton compiled a break of 30 to win 150-119.

Steve Toms played talented young potter Jamie Wilson.

Copnor had a lead of 50 going into this game and Toms held his nerve.

He took out his handicap and although Wilson won the game 150-146, the trophy was in the bag for Copnor.
