Anarchy In The Portsmouth Guildhall - Legendary punk rock band head out on 50 year anniversary tour including a stop in Portsmouth
Portsmouth date added to Anarchy In The U.K. Tour
Six new dates have been added to the Sex Pistols tour celebrating 50 years since the release of their song ‘Anarchy In The UK’.
The band, made up of Steve Jones, Paul Cook, Glen Matlock and featuring Frank Carter as the frontman, will go out on tour this winter and it now includes a date in Portsmouth. The band will be playing at the Portsmouth Guildhall on Tuesday, December 15.
‘Anarchy In The UK’ featured on the Sex Pistols debut album with 1976 seen as the year when punk was born. The Sex Pistols played a series of gigs around London causing mayhem and birthing a style that would inspire countless bands for generations to come.

Paul Cook said: “With Anarchy, I think we tapped into a feeling of unrest around the country at the time. The message was pretty simple - just have a go and get out there and do whatever you want to do. It was a new world.”
With John Lydon (Johnny Rotten) no longer performing with the band, Frank Carter has taken over the microphone much to the acclaim of his bandmates.
Guitarist Steve Jones said: “We’re having a blast - we’re like a well-oiled machine right now - and it’s been incredible to get out there with these songs we wrote 50 years ago. We love it. Frank’s a great frontman and really gets the crowd going. Every person in the audience loves these songs as much as we do and it’s an absolute pleasure to get out there and play them.”
Tickets for the Portsmouth Guildhall date will go on sale from 10am on Friday, September 4. Details can be found at https://www.livenation.co.uk/sex-pistols-tickets-adp1907.
